Their Story

Banquet is an independent record shop in Kingston, just on the outskirts of London. Banquet as we know it today was formed in 2004 when we took over the struggling business it was then from the ashes of the Beggars Banquet chain of shops.

How can we demonstrate a re-brand proposal for the independent London Record store, Banquet Records current identity, which will attract more consumers and improve their perception within the music industry?

Our Solution

I am working towards my final major project for my BA Hons in Graphic Design at Arden University. This isn't a real-life project brief, but as a Graphic Design student, it will enable me to create and challenge the design principle for this self-initiated project.​

Project Tasks

• Research based around the company and provided brief 
• Create Moodboards, Brainstorms and Sketches for Advert
• Re-evaluate the first idea to make critical changes to link to the Banquet Records brand identity
• Create three more mock-up showing experimentation and adaption of the brand
• Create final client pitch for the new Banquet Records identity in the music industry.

Why I am doing this project?

​This Final Major Project is the last module before my completion of a BA Hons in Graphic Design at Arden University.​I have always had a passion for endless genres of music, throughout my whole life. The various emotions and feelings that music can create, leaving people with unforgettable memories and experiences. There are so many genre types that it can be hard to find a brand that can fit all. This means businesses like Banquet Records, have to have a clear,  memorable, but also generic identity that can help their brand evolve with the music industry trend and satisfy all music genre lovers' needs.​I want to be able to provide a brand identity that is consistent across all forms of marketing channels, which will enable a more memorable brand that captures its target audience and exceeds their growing perception in the music industry. Using the participant feedback from my survey, this allows me to see what the target audience needs are for record stores in modern-day society. In particular, what is the brand identity they want to see for a business they love. Covering both digital and traditional content, I will be able to demonstrate consistency across the brand that will be unique and achieve the project objectives.​This research question is relevant to the discipline of graphic design within the music industry to show the importance of re-developing your brand to stay up to date with the industry trends and build a bigger consumer based through both artists concert attractions and the physical Vinyl and CD merchandise.
